Lama Sonam Gyatso - Resident Lama


Lama Sonam Gyatso was born in 1975 in Markham, province of Kham / Tibet. At the age of eight he joined the monastery in Markham, where he learned reading, writing and Buddhist texts.

 1992-1998, at the age of 15, he studied in Sakya Center in Rajpur / India. 1998 he accompanied His Holiness Sakya Trizin on his trip to Taiwan and Singapore. After that (1998-2008) he joined the Sakya Institute in Puruwalla to become an Archaya in Buddhist Philosophy.

He studied four years (2008-2013) English and Chinese at IBA Nepal, the International Buddhist Academy. Afterwards he visited his family in Kham, Eastern Tibet.

Since 29.05.2015 he became our new residence lama. He takes care of our center Sakya Kalden Ling along with our Vice-President Jampa Kungashar, gives teachings and ritual and meditation courses.
